Host Families

A key part of the Abroadia experience is living with host families. There is no better way to learn about the host culture, improve your second-language skills and forge life-long friendships. Contact us to learn more or better yet, contact an Abroadia alumnus to learn about their experience. Here are some of our host families.

Meet Lili-CUBA

She is one of our biggest supporters and provides a wonderful home for our students. She is a wonderful cook and has two daughters and a grandson. Her apartment has a rooftop that provides a wonderful view of Havana. Check out the video below by two UNH students who visited Cuba through Abroadia.

Meet Horacio and Marina-argentina

If you would like to spend some time in a very loving home and have nice conversations over coffee or mate, then you absolutely must spend time with Horacio and Marina. They love showing student the city, walking in their neighborhood and spending time with people interested in learning more about Argentine culture.

Meet Rodolfo-Cuba

Rodolfo’s family has worked the longest with Abroadia. He and his family create a wonderful home setting for students. Rodolfo has arranged for students to take guitar lessons, arranged picnics by the river and his son, Rodolfito, frequently puts together impromptu baseball games with Americans and Cubans. In this photo, Lenny enjoys his new Cuban friends, despite going 0-3 at the plate!

Meet lissette-cuba

We have had many students stay with Lissette in the Vedado area of Havana. But a former student best expresses why she is so special. Listen to this story in the audio file below.
