Through its partnership with Lacunza Spanish, Abroadia invites non-native teachers of Spanish from all levels (elementary school, high school and college/university) to spend two weeks in one of the most beautiful regions in Europe to learn new methodologies for Spanish language instruction, make new contacts, create new ideas for their curriculum and hopefully, to begin thinking of leading their own program abroad.

Cost: 800 € + 60 € registration fee (NOTE: This price does not include the cost of housing. Since participants have the chance of choosing between homestay, shared flat or a hotel room, we suggest that they contact us directly to learn the price of each form of accommodation).

SALAMANCA

Located in the province of Castile and Leon in western Spain, Salamanca is the home to the 800-year-old University of Salamanca where Miguel de Unamuno, the noted Spanish philosopher and educator served as rector in the early 20th century. Salamanca was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Sight in 1988 and offers visitors history, architectural splendor, food, and according to many Spaniards, “the truest form” of Spanish. We invite new and veteran Spanish teachers as well as those training to become one to spend two weeks at our partner school Colegio de España to learn new teaching strategies to include in their classroom work with students.

During the week in Salamanca, you will take daily advanced Spanish classes for instructors of Spanish in the morning and in the afternoons you will explore the city and surrounding areas. You will also enroll in a cooking class and visit Segovia. We will meet you at the airport and transport you to Salamanca where you will live with a host family. Throughout your time in this lovely city, we hope you will be inspired to think about leading your students here one day.

Cost is $1,290. This figure may vary depending on the number of participants.

Abroadia is pleased to announce an exciting new program in one of South America’s hidden gems-the beautiful city of Montevideo, Uruguay. For two weeks, Spanish teachers from abroad—veteran and new alike—will take Spanish classes to augment their teaching repertoire, visit fascinating sites, and make personal and professional connections. This program is invaluable for students pursuing careers as Spanish teachers, or for newly certified instructors. High school instructors are encouraged to apply. An exciting feature is the visit to a high school.

Program Cost: $2,875 (includes homestay accommodations with daily breakfast and dinner, excursions, activities)

Not included: airfare, visa, excursion to Buenos Aires, and personal expenses.
