We understand that sometimes studying abroad is not enough; that students want to make a difference in a local community and to connect with it in more meaningful ways. Thanks to our new relationship with Máximo Nivel, Abroadia students have an expanded range of programs to participate in. Students can teach English or work on beach conservation in Costa Rica. In Guatemala students can assist in animal care, eco-agriculture, medical and health care or work with children. Farther south in Peru, students have the opportunity to work in jungle conservation, construction, or work on an alpaca farm. Contact us to learn more!

Imagine taking part in local conservation efforts to protect some of the beautiful beaches of Costa Rica. Students may volunteer in other areas: eco-agricultural, jungle conservation, construction, teaching, care of animals, care of children, medical and health care, work with sea turtles, Andean immersion, and Mayan immersion.
Volunteer in Cuba
From March 15-20, 2026, students will have the opportunity to engage with Cubans more directly, outside of the classroom. More importantly, they will assist our Cuban friends with various tasks and projects and, in the process, forge a stronger friendship between the US and Cuba.
